Depression refers to a mental sickness that badly impacts not only the mood and thoughts, but also the body. The different changes taking place in mind and body manifest as unusual and negative feelings that tend to last for weeks and months without any considerable halt. In order to identify depression, it is necessary to know the depression signs.

Feelings of disappointment or being upset about something are just part of normal ups and downs of life. For example, grieving at a major loss is a natural process but it may seem to you as being depressed.

There is a lot that adults have to deal with. Personal life, professional life, responsibilities, desires and so on. All these together sometimes lead to a situation we know by the name of ‘depression’. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, then probably you are depressed. Without these symptoms, one cannot recognize the illness:-

Difficulty in concentrating and making decisions

Feeling lack of energy

Changes in sleep pattern, Decrease or increase in sleeping hours.

Changes in weight of your body, either you have lost or gained weight along with changes in appetite as well

Thoughts of low self esteem or worthlessness coming to the mind

Psychomotor activity changes (slow or agitated movements)

Thoughts of death or suicide coming to the mind

Guilty feeling – have a feel “never do anything right” and a thought of worthless and as burden to others.
